The Recital

We just had our recital tonight. Very exciting, Kate and Megan, our neighbor and student, got trapped in the elevator just before the recital was supposed to have begun. The fire department had to come get them out. The show went on without a hitch. I love teaching.

Strength

Of all the activities we do every day, which of them are the most worthwhile? What builds and uplifts? What makes us feel whole? I'm thinking that an afternoon playing in the park does a lot. Listening to my kids practice music, doing homework with them, listening to our family talk about stuff, finding old friends, cleaning the bathroom, the smells from a busy kitchen, an apron on my daughter, preparing photographs with my budding photographer, preparing family home evening lessons with my budding leader, these are some things that make me feel whole.

Going's on

A bumpy drive, lots of photography from our brilliant second grader and a little picnic of sub sandwiches marked todays day off with Dad. We kind of like the fall weather and activities. Our new pictures help illustrate our activities.

A Salute to Al

Our neighbor of ten years, Al, passed on yesterday afternoon. Never could you find a better neighbor. I'll miss his cheerful hello's especially to the children as he took his daily walks with his best friend, Fred. Al regularly did kind things for our family. I'd find the lawn mowed or he'd share his good produce among other things. He and his wife would make a meal for us after our babies were born. Every time the children would visit Al with a small gift they would come away with a little more confidence and a sweet goody. It was a pleasure learning how to live better from our neighbors as we visited across the fence. So here is a salute to an honorable man and his family at his passing. Thanks Al.
